He's fought his way to world championships at lightweight, welterweight, and junior middleweight, became known as the best pound-for- pound fighter in boxing. HBO commentator and world champion Roy Jones Jr. proclaimed, after Mosley knocked out John John Molina, "He's the best lightweight in history, maybe after Roberto Duran."

Through his Foundation and Mosley Pomona Boxing Club, he seeks to bring the same level of Faith, Hope and determination that has lead him to World Championships to children's daily lives. As a way of Giving Back to the Community the Mosley Family Established Diamond's Love Foundation to honor Diamond J. Johnson, his late nephew. Diamonds Love Foundation is a non-profit organization which has gained a distinguished reputation for providing support to community-based organizations in Pomona and underserved communities throughout the United States. In 2011 The Foundation partnered with Pomona Unified School District in funding free health screenings to District students.

January 20-22nd, 2012, Sugar Shane Mosley & Diamonds Love Foundation will host the "1st Pomona Pride Community Event” sponsored by Claremont Toyota. The event will include a 3 day Carnival for All, Health & Community Awareness workshops co-sponsored by Western University of Health & Sciences.   Entertainment Stage showcasing up and coming local talent, Old Navy sponsored fashion show for kids, and an Amateur Boxing Show, showcasing Olympic hopefuls.
