Human Trafficking Activist Challenges Atlanta to Get Involved

Popular Romantic Suspense Author Brings Signature “Leave Your Mark” graffiti parties to Atlanta during Human Trafficking Awareness Month to engage readers in cause

Jan. 8, 2012 - PRLog -- Popular romantic suspense author Heather Huffman will visit Atlanta January 9 – 14, 2012, to host several “Leave your Mark” graffiti parties and discuss how there are many ways to help those in need.

Huffman’s books are entertaining romantic suspense that delight readers with resilient heroines, passionate romance and exciting adventures.  With over 150,000 readers, Huffman sees her books as a way to not only entertain, but to raise awareness of a cause that she’s deeply committed to: fighting human trafficking, the reality of modern day slavery.

More than a book signing, graffiti parties are Huffman’s unique way to bring people of all backgrounds together, get to know her readers, and discuss ways to get involved.  The venues and activities vary – including a city pub, local bookstore, café and painting class – but her belief that we all have something unique and important to share is consistent.  In addition to 25% of Huffman’s book sale proceeds at each event, several venues have designated a portion of event proceeds to Project Liberty, a non-profit organization dedicated to recovering trafficking victims and reuniting them with families.

Huffman’s novels entertain while reminding us that even the biggest obstacles can be overcome. “The stories I write don’t shy away from the darker corners of life, but they’re largely warm and funny reads.  Although my books are fictional, the characters and storylines are inspired by people I’ve met through my work.  There is always a piece of me in them, too. Some of the most outlandish tales are mine, tweaked to fit the story. My failures and triumphs are woven into every page.”

January marks the one-year anniversary of the date Huffman decided to use her writing talents to raise awareness of human trafficking.  Describing RING OF FIRE, her latest release, “(The heroine) Alex McAlister was passionate about using her talents to make the world a better place.  She took the tools she’d been given to leave her mark on this world.  That’s something I think we should all do.  I love to write, and I hope to use that to, in some small way, make this world a better place.”

Every day, people are presented with countless opportunities to make a difference in the lives of others. For more information, join her at an Atlanta event below, contact her at heather@heatherhuffman.net, or read more on her website at www.heatherhuffman.net.
