2004 Mizzou Master of Journalism Pushes MO Media for Fair Accurate & Balanced Ron Paul Coverage

Mike Carter, candidate for Missouri Lt. Governor, feels that Missouri’s media has been remiss in their coverage of Ron Paul's candidacy for the President of the United States. Paul is currently the front-runner by a narrow margin in the Iowa polls.
Dec. 19, 2011 - PRLog -- St. Charles, MO, December 19, 2011-- Mike Carter, candidate for Missouri Lieutenant Governor, feels that Missouri’s media has been remiss in their coverage of Ron Paul's candidacy for the President of the United States. Ron Paul is currently the front-runner by a narrow margin in the Iowa polls.

Missouri is notorious for being an independent-minded state. Rather than consistently leaning right or left, it is known as a bellwether state, predicting the outcome of the Presidential election more than 92% of the time. Carter insists that a candidate like Paul is the best fit for a state like Missouri, and is disappointed in the media for failing to focus on Paul’s candidacy with the same level of coverage they are affording the other GOP candidates.  “A Mitt-Romney phone conference by two-year-Senator Talent was covered like the Joplin Tornadoes,” said Carter incredulously.

"The media owes this state fair, focused, and balanced coverage of Ron Paul's candidacy," said Carter, who holds a Masters degree in Journalism from Mizzou. "It's odd that a group whose entire livelihood depends so heavily upon the protection of personal freedoms would largely ignore the one candidate who so ardently seeks to protect them."

Carter and Paul share similar ideologies. Personal liberties, smaller government, and stopping the deterioration of our privacy rights are central themes in both candidates' platforms.

"Governmental controls are creeping into every aspect of our daily lives. Not all government is good government. Ron Paul wants to protect personal freedoms and privacy. So do I. Ron Paul believes that we shouldn't be meddling in everyone's business around the world when our own government is bankrupt and we have so many things here that need to be fixed. So do I. Ron Paul believes in telling the truth about his beliefs every step of the way, even if they don't conform lock-step with those of the party he's running under, so do I."

Carter hopes that more media attention on candidates like Paul will encourage independent thinkers who refuse to continue to blindly toe the party lines.

Carter is an Independent-minded Republican who has cast votes for Ross Perot and Ron Paul. He is a former judge, real estate attorney, Senior Lecturer for the University of Missouri, corporate counsel, and Director at the St. Louis Board of REALTORS.
