Sunvil Discovery launches 2012 Portugal & Madeira brochure

Eight new properties feature and the Alentejo region goes from strength to strength

Dec. 19, 2011 - PRLog -- Tailor-made specialist Sunvil Discovery has launched its 2012 real Portugal & Madeira brochure, packed full of accommodation options and flexible itineraries to the lesser-known areas of this captivating country.

Sunvil Discovery is pleased to announce that its exclusive flight to Beja in the heart of the Alentejo will continue – departing London Heathrow once a week – in 2012. Following the success of the flight and expanded Alentejo programme in 2011, a new section detailing what to do and see in this unspoilt region now features.

New properties include elegant manor house Casa do Sezim, set in its own vineyards just outside Guimaraes, European Capital of Culture for 2012, and the luxurious five-star Onyria Marinha Edition Hotel & Thalasso near Cascais, complete with golf course designed by Robert Trent Jones Senior that offers fantastic views over the Atlantic and Sintra mountain range.

Comments Rosanna Melaragni, Sunvil Discovery’s Product Manager: “We have always delved a little deeper into Portugal, venturing to little-known areas and focusing on characterful pousadas and family-run properties. Our Alentejo programme is a prime example – untouched and unknown, it offers a beautiful landscape of sweeping plains dotted with cork trees and pretty whitewashed villages without the crowds. Following the introduction of the Beja flight in 2011, we have added three new properties to the region for 2012, and are offering more of an insight into what to see and do in this fascinating area. New properties have also been handpicked in Madeira, Northern Portugal and Porto.”

Inspiration for what to see and do in the Alentejo can be found on pages 50-51. Recommendations range from vineyard tours for wine lovers and surfing spots on the rugged Atlantic coast, to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Evora for culture vultures and the Castro Verde, a semi-natural habitat for birds known as a pseudo-steppe area, one of the most important in Europe and a must for keen birdwatchers.
