Dec. 9, 2011 - PRLog -- Hospital Procedures Consultants (HPC) is a company dedicated to providing quality, comprehensive, evidence-based procedural education to emergency physicians, hospitalists, and midlevel providers.  Drs. Joseph Esherick and Richard Rutherford, are accomplished clinicians and procedural educators with successful track records who have been teaching this subject material nationally for over 10 years.  During this time, they have trained over 1,000 clinicians how to perform the 20 most essential hospital procedures performed in the ICU, ER, and hospital wards.

HPC teaches Hospitalist and Emergency Procedures courses that combine integrated lectures using procedural videos with hands-on skills labs using the most advanced simulation manikins.  The courses will be taught by two instructors and are limited to 21 students per room to allow ample hands-on instruction and individualized education with the goal that every student develops the knowledge and skills necessary to begin performing these procedures at their respective hospitals.

The course will provide 17 hours of AMA/AAFP/AOA/AANP/CFPC-prescribed Category 1 CME credit and will cover the following procedures:  femoral line placement, subclavian line placement, internal jugular line placement, intraosseous line placement, venous cutdowns, arterial line placement, mechanical ventilation, informed consent, procedural sedation, tube thoracostomy, thoracentesis, lumbar puncture, paracentesis, endotracheal intubation, Glidescope intubation, laryngeal mask airway placement, King tube placement, needle decompression, ultrasound-guided central line placement, ultrasound-guided thoracentesis and nearly 4 hours of HANDS-ON ultrasound training, including education in RUSH exams, E-FAST exams, spine ultrasound, chest ultrasound, IVC ultrasound, limited echocardiography, and vascular ultrasound.
