Shop in Frisco This Holiday Season and Support Small Business in Colorado

Frisco hosts a week long holiday celebration that helps support small businesses

Dec. 1, 2011 - PRLog -- FRISCO, Colo., Dec. 1, 2011 – Frisco, Colorado, is a hub of small businesses offering everything from children’s toys and clothing, to unique mountain wear, to all the outdoor gear a Coloradoan could ever want or need. Small Business Saturday, held on Nov. 26, was a great way to support all of Colorado’s small businesses, but if you shop along Frisco’s Main Street this December, you’re helping nothing but small businesses.

Not that we don’t like our big, national chains (we do!), but small business is the lifeblood of Frisco and of Colorado. According to the latest statistics from the Colorado Small Business Administration’s Office of Advocacy there are more than 127,000 businesses in Colorado that employee fewer than 500 people. Compare that to the 3,000 large employers in the state, and you can see why it’s so important to support small business.

In Frisco, we make it easy to patronize small business. We have 145 small businesses in Frisco and if you buy a tubing pass at the Adventure Park during Wassail Days (Dec. 3 – 11), you get $5 Wassail Cash good at any participating Frisco business. And as you’re shopping, don’t forget to sample retailers’ homemade Wassail. Each business is vying for bragging rights for the best Wassail, so be sure to vote for your favorite, too.

In between shopping and eating, there’s plenty more to do to keep the whole family entertained this December in Frisco. Frisco’s annual holiday celebration, Wassail Days, is Dec. 3 – 11, and kicks off with Santa Dash for Cash, a tree lighting ceremony and a chili cook-off, featuring the traditional tomato/pepper porridge from amateurs and professionals alike. You need to pre-register for Santa Dash for Cash, the tree lighting ceremony is free and the chili cook-off is $20 for all you can eat. Proceeds go to the Summit County Cares Project and the Summit County Chamber.

Wassail Days winds down Dec. 10 and 11 with Breakfast with Santa and the announcement of the winner of the Wassail competition. Deals on tubing and other specials at the Adventure Park make December the perfect month to visit Frisco.
