Combine Christmas shopping with horizons new

Treat yourself this Christmas with a shopping break. Either with friends or a loved one, getting away from your regular high street and enjoying a city shopping break is an excellent idea. This article highlights all that Liverpool has to offer.

Nov. 28, 2011 - PRLog -- We all love a spot of Christmas shopping, but trudging round the same old shops every day can bring out the Scrooge in anyone. Instead of it being a chore, treat yourself to a couple of days away and enjoy visiting somewhere new whilst gathering the gifts. You get all the benefits of being a tourist with a built-in excuse to spend money.

Get together with a couple of friends, or use the trip to spend some much-needed time away with your partner, whichever you prefer.  People often fly quite long distances for a shopping trip, but there are UK cities much closer to home with just as much on offer.

Choose a city with great transport links, a wealth of retail opportunities and a bit of history and culture thrown in for good measure and you’re guaranteed to enjoy the experience.

Liverpool is a great choice of destination, due to its multitude of shops with something for everyone.  One of the newest shopping centres is Liverpool One, a super stylish collection of shops for the fashion conscious everywhere. Top designer names such as Hugo Boss and Jaegar nestle nicely alongside more high street versions like Gap and H&M.  If you are after something a little more exclusive, a short walk away on Cavern Walks,  boutiques such as Cricket regularly appear in the Top 50 independent shops listings.

Accommodation wise, Liverpool hotels are no less chic, with several boutique hotels on offer in the city. When you’ve got a bit of shopping under your belt there are plenty of other attractions to head for, including the Beatles Museum, the Tate Liverpool and the Walker Art Gallery. Choosing a hotel in Liverpool couldn’t be simpler due to the number of booking websites around.

Rail links are high speed – currently the fast train from London Euston takes just two hours and eight minutes and once you’ve reached your Liverpool hotel you’ll find plenty of taxis to ferry you and your parcels about after shopping.

You’ll also find plenty to do when the shops are shut – Liverpool has a vibrant nightlife with bars, restaurants and clubs popular with those wanting to see and be seen. If you fancy something a little more traditional, why not head on up to Chavasse Park and book a slot on the skating rink. After you’ve danced on the ice, retire to the Polar Bar, Liverpool’s first pop-up bar serving a range of drinks to warm your cockles.

Liverpool deservedly earned the title of European City of Culture in 2008 and is also a UNESCO designated World Heritage Maritime Mercantile City. History abounds at every street corner with beautiful architecture, including the instantly recognisable Liver Building and the less well known but no less powerful Oriel Chambers. Walking tours are available to take around the city for those wishing to learn more about the architects and designers who sculpted this amazing city.

A perfect combination of tourism and trading – a short break in a one of the hotels in Liverpool could be the answer to all your Christmas shopping worries!
