Sept. 6, 2011 - PRLog -- Have you had a bad dream and thought you would never wake up from it? This is the predicament that faces the anti-hero in Keith Blackburn's The Auguste.

In this truly strange novel, Algy, a 22-year old clerk, awakes one October morning in 1932 to find himself transformed into a frail old clown. What in the world is happening? Not only has his appearance changed, but so have his surroundings and everyone he knows. Algy tries to make it to his office or to a doctor, and is determined to find a way out of the bad dream. But he becomes waylaid at every turn by a cast of wonderfully grotesque characters and a series of surrealistic incidents that are beyond his control.

The Auguste is a richly written novel offering a poetic tapestry of events. This fascinating book portrays an absurd world where the way out is never what it seems.
