1. Keep your vision in sight
It is very easy to forget the reason why we started something when it comes to business. Many people start with a flame of passion that causes you to put in the countless hours that might initially see very little return. However, often as success builds the vision gets lost in the detail. Like Bradford Outsource, a new companies vision is the big picture, always keep it at the forefront of every decision you make.
2. Mission accomplished
Don’t forget that your mission is different from your vision. Your mission is your purpose. Do it with purpose.
3. “You may not be interested in strategy but strategy is interested in you” –Leon Trotsky
It is essential to put in place the strategy to achieve your goals, your mission and eventually your vision. Without knowing how you’re going to do it, nothing will get completed any time soon. A vision is great but plenty of people have had a fantastic idea which has gone to waste because they’ve never devoted the time to work out how they are going to realise it.
4. Score the goal.
Winston Churchill once said “No matter how beautiful the strategy, you should occasionally look at the results.” Goals are essential to every business, when we hit them we are reminded that we are winning. You should avoid having too many goals at one time otherwise you risk forgetting them. Have one long term, one medium term and one short term goal at a time. Your short term goal is obviously going to update regularly so you will feel a sense of progress but your long term goals will be all the more satisfying when you hit them.
5. Why? Why? Why?
For every goal it is essential you have a reason why you want to achieve it. If there isn’t one then it shouldn’t be a goal because you’ll never really understand the purpose of hitting it.
