Countdown to Ocean’s The Art of Outdoor digital competition begins

Ocean Outdoor and Brand Republic have announced the judging panel for The Art of Outdoor Digital competition 2011 which is challenging the UK’s creative community to push at the boundaries of innovative digital outdoor advertising.

Aug. 23, 2011 - PRLog -- This year’s expert line-up includes two inspirational creative figureheads. Alix Pennycuick, Executive Creative Director at Publicis Modem, and the creative director on the recent Cannes Lions award-winning Renault Megane Experiment campaign.  And Andre Laurentino, Executive Creative Director at TBWA, who has presided over a number of award-winning campaigns for clients, including Nissan and Visa.

They will be joined by three leading industry experts: Steve Parker, Managing Director of MediaVest; and two out of home specialists; James Copley, UK COO of Kinetic; and Glen Wilson, UK Managing Director of Posterscope. Both Kinetic and Posterscope are leading investors in digital out of home.

Elizabeth Hillerby, Campaign Manager at British Airways, who were last year’s competition winners, Richard Sutcliffe, Editor of Brand Republic and Tim Bleakley, Chief Executive of Ocean Outdoor complete the panel.

Creative gurus have until the recently extended deadline of September 9 to make their submissions, with the chance to win a share of a £300,000 prize fund. Their work will be showcased at four of Ocean’s leading digital outdoor locations: Eat Street Westfield, Holland Park Roundabout, The Two Towers and Axis @ The Hacienda, Manchester.

A film of each entry will be screened live at these locations and on a dedicated website, artofoutdoor.com, where the public can vote for their favourite. The Top 10 will then be judged by  the expert panel, who will be looking for groundbreaking use of full motion, subtle motion and interactivity.

The winners will be announced at an Awards ceremony to be held at the IMAX on October 13 2011 at 9:30am.

Last year’s winner for BA was submitted by BEING, who created the world’s first live interactive digital billboard, connecting the West Indies with Westfield. The work generated global PR and went on to be shortlisted for three Cannes Lions awards.
