Jerry Lohr Receives Calif. Assoc. of Wine Grapegrowers Lifetime Achievement Award at Windfall Farms

Aug. 9, 2011 - PRLog -- PASO ROBLES, CALIF.--On July 18, more than 250 members of the Paso Robles Wine Country Alliance were treated to artisan cheeses, gourmet grill station, bruschetta bar and sweet station catered by Catering Unlimited at the Alliance's annual membership meeting at Windfall Farms. During the evening, Jerry Lohr, president and owner of J. Lohr Vineyards & Wines, received the California Association of Wine Grapegrowers Lifetime Achievement award from San Luis Obispo Board of Supervisor Franck Mecham.

   Lohr established himself as a Monterey County wine pioneer in 1972 when he planted vineyards in the Arroyo Seco area at a time when the area was not yet recognized as a world-class wine growing region. Today, J. Lohr Vineyards & Wines produces grapes on 3,700 acres in the Central Coast and Napa Valley.   

   Phillip James, founder of Lot 18, was keynote speaker at the event. He spoke about new retail wine selling channels to reach consumers and new technologies.

   Guests were seated in the expansive brick wings of the Stallion Barn at Windfall Farms and then mingled in the renovated Stallion Barn reception area while enjoying the pastoral views and thoroughbreds along with live music of Rewined. Windfall Farms is an exclusive equestrian and agrarian community that is a frequent host to charity functions, wine tastings, business events and corporate retreats throughout the year.
