The award was given for Ryan’s experimental short film, Look, which is a dream-inspired avant-garde examination of beauty created when Ryan attended Watkins Film School. Look features elegantly composed visuals by director Ryan Pickett as well as cinematographer Shane Bartlett and it was co-written by Spenser Fritz. The exceptional cast includes John Ferguson, Starina Johnson, Alison Parson and Theresa Meeker.

The Award of Merit in the Best Shorts Competition is a great honor to win while Look, which is Ryan’s second film, has previously won an Award of Merit in the 2009 Accolade Competition. The very first short film that Ryan made, You Only Loved Me Twice, as well as his business proposal earned him a top five finalist spot in the film entrepreneurship Race to Be Competition hosted by media mogul Russell Simmons at the Sony Pictures Studio Lot in Los Angeles.
