July 5, 2011 - PRLog -- Gainesville, FL— Solar Impact has partnered with the Alachua County Library
District to utilize library roof space to generate much needed revenue for the library
district. Solar Impact will design and install the library’s solar electric projects. Several
firms from around the southeastern United States competed for the project. Solar
Impact’s bid offered the highest roof lease payment to the library district.

The solar electric system on the downtown headquarters is nearing completion. Standing across the street at the post office, you can see 100,000 watts of solar photovoltaic panels on the library roof. In the next few weeks, an additional 100,000 watts will be installed on the roof of the Millhopper branch. Private investors will own the systems and receive revenue from Gainesville Regional Utilities (GRU) under the successful solar feed in tariff (FIT) program. The library district will receive lease payments from the investors for the use of the library roof.
