Music-for-Social-Change Organization anticipated as social & educational fabric of Atlanta community

May 11, 2011 - PRLog -- ATLANTA, GA – For more than 50 years, Coxe Curry & Associates (CC&A) has proudly served some of Georgia’s top organizations in the nonprofit sector. CC&A was recently retained to lead the fundraising efforts of The Atlanta Music Project (AMP). With notable teaching artists and an Executive Board to match, the Atlanta-based 501(c)3 organization, at only 18-months, is on its way to becoming a major influencer in transforming the lives of Atlanta’s underprivileged children. Its vehicle: Classical Music.

Co-founded by Canadian-born bassoonist and AMP Executive Director, Dantes Rameau, his inaugural membership in the Abreu Fellows Program at the New England Conservatory of Music is where he studied El Sistema, the acclaimed Venezuelan National Youth Orchestra System that transforms the lives of children through music. Since El Sistema’s founding, over one-million kids have gone through the program. Despite 70% of the participants living below the poverty line, the program has spawned visionary global movement. Rameau envisions the same outcome for Metropolitan Atlanta’s underprivileged youth.

“Our program’s overall goal is using music; specifically orchestral and choral music; as a vehicle for social change,” says Rameau. “The Atlanta Music Project gets kids off the streets and keeps them away from a lifestyle that leads to trouble, all while developing their confidence, creativity and ambition. We are thrilled to be working with the esteemed and reputable firm Coxe Curry and Associates. Their expertise and experience will be a most important asset in helping us to augment our fundraising efforts as we expand our operations to serve more communities and youth in Atlanta through music."

AMP believes raising funds and awareness will aid in swiftly building the movement in the Atlanta metro area. Immediate plans include increasing enrollment from 24 to 40 students, opening a second site in another underserved neighborhood, and lastly, encouraging music instrument donations and child sponsorships from music and youth advocates.
