April 29, 2011 - PRLog -- Montessori philosophy highlights the importance of real-life practical experiences.  Following an in-depth study of Greek history, customs and economics, Princeton Montessori School’s eight 8th graders, accompanied by two teachers as chaperones, embarked on the ultimate learning experience—a week in Greece.   With the assistance of teachers, students planned all aspects of the trip, from choosing which historic sites to visit, to where to eat and lodge.  Each student had the opportunity to act as tour guide for the group, and all students kept journals that documented their travel experience.

Each year, the school’s 8th grade travels to a different international locale.  Past destinations have included Istanbul, Prague and Rome.  Trips relate to the middle school’s history curriculum and provide an opportunity for unique hands-on learning experiences.   Students also receive practical-life instruction in trip preparation, packing and budgeting.  Prior to each year’s trip, students organize fund-raising activities to finance the trip.  The entire experience is a lesson in responsibility and teamwork.
