April 5, 2011 - PRLog -- Waiters’ races have been around for quite a long time, however in the last few decades they have become increasingly more popular around the world.  The number of cities organizing them (especially on Bastille Day and other popular festivals) has increased every year.

More than 600 races that happened since 1920 in about 53 countries and 300 cities have been listed, archived and organized on WaitersRace.com by date and place, as well as according to original official labels (Classic Tray, Sportive Tray and Fun Tray).  In 2010 alone, WaitersRace.com has listed more than 150 races.

“The fact that Waiters Races are increasing in numbers every year is not surprising,” says Yoann Melloul, co-founder of the site. “Everybody likes the event.  Spectators are fond of it because it’s fun and free.  Organizers and waiters see it as a great way to bring more awareness to the catering industry and profession. Sponsors make the most of the event to communicate their brand to the crowds and tourist offices use them to promote their city”.

WaitersRace.com was created to meet an increasing need for an international online community of supporters. “Although the web was full of information about waiters races, no place existed where organizers, waiters, fans, sponsors and other enthusiasts could communicate and share media files and stories.  It was time to provide that service and build an online social networking site specifically for the waiters race community!” says Ruben Benamou, co-founder of WaitersRace.com.

WaitersRace.com has set itself many goals including: supporting current and new organizers with helpful services (such as a planning handbook with ready-to-use templates), enlarging media coverage of the races, publishing race agendas and archives, reporting news and results and employing other marketing efforts on the subject to increase the recognition of the profession of waiter.

The WaitersRace.com team has already received great feedback and support from the international waiters race community, particularly from recipients of WaitersRace.com official winner’s certificates and from organizers who have published their photos, videos, and race details on their dedicated free race page on the site.

The founders of the website are inviting all community members to contact them at contact@WaitersRace.com.

Note to Editor
About WaitersRace.com:

WaitersRace.com was founded in September 2010 by Yoann Melloul and Ruben Benamou, two former lawyers from Paris who specialized in media and communication. The concept of WaitersRace.com was initialized one year earlier after watching the French actor Vincent Lindon training hard to run the traditional Paris Waiters Race in the movie “Tout ça pour ça” directed by Claude Lelouch. After a quick review on the web to learn more about the origin and the rules of this tradition, they were surprised to realize that every year there were hundreds of these races all around the world with no website dedicated to the cause and with no online presence providing information about the events. Today, WaitersRace.com makes all relevant information about the races around the world easily and readily available and provides the community with the social network it deserves. WaitersRace.com is now available in English, French and Spanish.
