Hempstead Rebirth Achieves Chdo Certification

Feb. 12, 2011 - PRLog -- Hempstead Rebirth Community Development Corporation, the non-profit organization created to improve the overall quality of life of low and moderate income individuals and families, has been certified as a Community Housing Development Organization (CHDO).

The certification of Hempstead Rebirth as a Community Housing Development Organization (CHDO) furthers the mission of the organization of improving the lives of the residents of the Village of Hempstead through their new housing initiatives. Curtis Riley, CEO of Hempstead Rebirth, says, “We are excited about this new initiative and look forward to use the set aside resources to create affordable housing opportunities but mostly we are enthusiastic to provide housing development strategies and training for the residents.  It will be another way to show that Hempstead is a great place to live.”

About The Community Housing Development Organization (CHDO)

The Community Housing Development Organization (CHDO) is a private non-profit, community based service organization whose primary purpose is to provide and develop decent, affordable housing for the community it serves.  Certified CHDOs receive certification from a Participating Jurisdiction (PJ) indicating that they meet certain HOME Program requirements and therefore eligible for HOME funding.  Funds are available through HOME PJs exclusively for qualified CHDO projects and operating expenses.
