Hempstead Rebirth Births Business Mentorship Program

Oct. 6, 2010 - PRLog -- Hempstead Rebirth Community Development Corporation, the non-profit, faith based organization created to improve the overall quality of life of low and moderate income individuals and families, has officially launched the Hempstead Business Mentorship Program.

The Hempstead Business Mentorship Program is a one-year program designed to provide selected businesses in the Village of Hempstead – predominantly located in the downtown area - with direct, immediate, and practical advice on conducting business, planning and management from experienced mentors.  Applicants to the program must be residents and/or own a business in the Village of Hempstead, have been in existence for three (3) or more years, and have intentions on hiring full time, part time, or intern staff within the funding year.  

Applications are available at the Hempstead Rebirth office and are due and postmarked on November 5th, 2010 by 5:00PM with a non-refundable application fee of $75.00 in the form of a money order made out to “Hempstead Rebirth”. Applications should be submitted via US Postal Service or hand delivered to Hempstead Rebirth. Funding decisions will be made on November 25th and selected participants will be notified by November 30th.    

Awardees must agree to participate in a weekly, four (4) hour start-up business course entitled Core Four, for one month.  This course is coordinated by the Community Development Corporation of Long Island.  Awardees must also participate in 300 hours of mentoring and business development services during the funding year.  Marjorie Preacely, Special Assistant to the President/CEO, says, “I’m excited that we are able to further support their efforts by sponsoring a $1,000 grant in order for them to implement some of what they learn in their mentoring sessions.”
