Solar Training Institute Approved for Inclusion on State of CA Eligible Training Provider List

Feb. 11, 2011 - PRLog -- After rigorous screening by California’s Employment Development Department (EDD), the Solar Training Institute (STI) has joined the ranks of state-recommended workforce trainers.  This listing also enables qualified trainees to receive state funds to underwrite the cost of the courses.  

Victoria Bradshaw, recent Secretary of the Labor and Workforce Development Agency (LWDA) and now with the Little Hoover Commission, expressed the state’s cleantech workforce development commitment saying,  “We are committed not only to putting Californians back to work quickly, but to also train them for jobs of the future. We’re focusing our efforts on workers who face special challenges and train them for careers in industries that need workers today and offer the opportunity to move upward tomorrow.”

STI now partners with key California workforce development agencies (such as Workforce Investment Boards and One Stop Centers sponsored by EDD) to serve dislocated workers to reach their career development goals.   Being listed on the ETPL represents an essential seal of approval for quality facilities, rigorous curriculum and qualified instructors.

California's Eligible Training Provider List (ETPL) was established as a result of the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) of 1998. The purpose of the ETPL is to provide access to funds and quality employment training for adults and dislocated workers. The statewide list of qualified training providers offers a wide range of educational programs, including classroom, correspondence, Internet, broadcast, and apprenticeship programs.
