The state of Hawaii already has the highest electric rates in the nation and they are climbing even higher-- and driving the fast-growing solar industry in Hawaii.    The challenge for this sector is finding a well trained workforce.  For jobseekers who want to transition into this industry the Solar Training Institute has nationally-accredited solar courses to help.  

The accelerated 5-day program provides trainees with a comprehensive understanding of the design and installation of residential and commercial PV grid-tied systems.  Many trainees who complete the course will seek NABCEP PV Installer Certification.

The course covers essential topics such as an overview of the PV industry, panel and inverter specifications, grid-tied systems sizing and string calculations, site preparation, essential industry tools, electrical analysis, mechanical attachment, PV combiner box configuration and wiring, PV array conductor and grounding wire configuration, OSHA safety standards, system commissioning and final inspection, maintenance and troubleshooting.

The accelerated classes have benefited licensed contractors, Veterans and other career changers through STI’s California offices in San Jose, San Diego, Los Angeles and Anaheim, CA.
