Dec. 2, 2010 - PRLog -- Heston Blumenthal’s Christmas Pudding, available exclusively at Waitrose, has not only flown off the shelves in-store; but has now begun to dominate the internet.

Site statistics from www.MyVoucherCodes.co.uk, the UK’s leading discount website, has revealed that ‘Heston Blumenthal Christmas Pudding’ has consistently remained within the top five most searched-for terms on site for the past seven days consecutively. The term has also featured in the in top ten list of most commonly searched items for the past fortnight.

The pudding, which costs £13.99, contains a whole candied orange at its centre; and has been quite a hit with consumers, with Waitrose reporting that it has sold four times more than any previous premium pudding.  The pudding is reportedly now almost sold out, with some consumers selling it on eBay for up to £77.00.

‘Delia Smith Classic Christmas Cake,’ also available at Waitrose, has also proved a popular search term on MyVoucherCodes.co.uk; featuring in the top ten most commonly searched- for items by visitors to the site in the past fortnight.

MyVoucherCodes.co.uk is the UK’s leading discount and voucher code website, attracting up to 11 million unique visitors per month, and featuring tens of thousands of discounts from major retailers across the UK. In 2009, MyVoucherCodes saved consumers £52 million; with results of savings for 2010 soon to be published.

Mark Pearson, chairman of MyVoucherCodes.co.uk, commented on the findings:

“Heston’s Christmas Pudding has caused quite a stir amongst shoppers; not only flying off the shelves in-store at Waitrose, but featuring as one of the most popular searched-for terms on our site for the past seven days running. Although it has featured in our top ten most searched- for terms for the past fortnight; it appears that the news of low-stock in-store last week has spurred shoppers into seeking out the pudding elsewhere, with many turning to the internet.”

He continued:

“To put this in perspective, we feature tens of thousands of discounts on MyVoucherCodes.co.uk from thousands of different retailers at any one time. Heston’s pudding has trumped all other searches for products on our site for the past seven days consecutively; something we rarely see with any products from other sectors. The pudding has been a hit to say the least; we only wish we could tell shoppers where to find them after they’re gone from the shelves for good!”
