Nov. 10, 2010 - PRLog -- Noblis, Inc. is pleased to announce that one of its clients, the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) has received the award for Achievement in Inauguration from the Center for Environmental Innovation and Leadership (CEIL). The CEIL awards program recognizes military personnel, federal agency teams, projects and facilities, and programs that have turned ideas into accomplishments and demonstrated exemplary performance in integrating environmental stewardship into day-to-day activities. The award for Achievement in Inauguration recognizes the best new program or initiative and showcases the great ideas and recent successes of federal and military innovators. GSA’s Federal Acquisition Service (FAS) received the award for the GSA Carbon Footprint and Green Procurement Tool that it has made available for free to all federal government agencies.

In order to enable the government to transform its business practices, facility management, and energy use to pursue green goals, GSA’s FAS spearheaded the development and implementation of the GSA Carbon Footprint and Green Procurement Tool. The Tool helps federal managers measure, track, and reduce the carbon footprint of federal government agencies. The GSA Carbon Footprint and Green Procurement Tool is in compliance with the White House Executive Order (EO) 13514–Federal Leadership in Environmental, Energy, and Economic Performance–and provides full support for Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions. The Tool provides a way for federal agencies to calculate a bottom-up inventory of GHG emissions that demonstrates both the aggregate figures an agency needs to report every year and the facility-level data they need in order to make concrete reductions.

The Tool has been officially adopted by numerous U.S. agencies including the Departments of Commerce, Homeland Security, Health and Human Services, Treasury, Transportation, and the National Capital Planning Commission and the Office of Personal Management to measure and manage their carbon emissions. GSA’s FAS team received the award on November 9, 2010 at the GOVgreen Conference and Exposition in Washington, DC.

“We would like to congratulate GSA’s FAS team on being recognized as one of the leading innovators and having the foresight to develop and create an online tool for the federal government to use,” said Robert Wassmann, Noblis Senior Manager. “We are honored to be working with this distinguished team.”
