Paul Morabito Named Co-Chair To New GLAAD Board of Advisors

Nov. 9, 2010 - PRLog -- Los Angeles, CA – Businessman Paul Morabito has been elected as Co-Chair of the GLAAD Board of Advisors.  GLAAD amplifies the voice of the LGBT community by empowering real people to share their stories, holding the media accountable for the words and images they present, and helping grassroots organizations communicate effectively. By ensuring that the stories of LGBT people are heard through the media, GLAAD promotes understanding, increases acceptance, and advances equality.  “I’m honored to be part of such a great organization whose main goal is to create equality for all,” Morabito says.

Paul Morabito is the Chairman of Consolidated Western Corporation, which owns Superpumper, Inc. of Scottsdale, Arizona.  From 2005 through 2007, Mr. Morabito was Chairman and CEO Berry-Hinckley Industries, the largest wholesale fuel supplier in Nevada.  From 1997 through 2007, Mr. Morabito was a multi-unit franchisee of Shell-Oil Products US Jiffy Lube division.  In 1990, Mr. Morabito founded Chronitech Inc., the country’s first chronic disease focused retail pharmacy chain that opened the first AIDS/HIV specific pharmacy in America, which was sold in 1992 to Diagnostek Inc. .  From 1987 to 1990, Mr. Morabito served as a Principal in the Corporate Finance Department at Midland Doherty Financial, then Canada’s largest retail securities brokerage and subsequently acquired by Merrill Lynch.

Mr. Morabito served as Senior Policy Advisor to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department from 1998 through 2005; and was appointed by the President pro Tempore of the California State Senate to the California High Speed Rail Authority Board (1998-1999) and the California State Coastal Conservancy (2000-2005).  California Governor Gray Davis named him Chairman of the State Coastal Conservancy in 2001, a position he served in until 2005.  Under his leadership, more than $2 billion was invested by the State of California in acquiring public beach access.  Governor Davis named Mr. Morabito a Super Delegate to the Democratic National Convention in 2000. In 2007, Nevada Republican Governor Jim Gibbons named him the Washoe County representative on the Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) Board of Directors, where along with two other public members, he serves along with the Governor, Lt. Governor, Attorney General and State Controller.  He was also Interim Chairman of the Breast Preservation Foundation.  Paul Morabito has contributed to many charities and political campaigns throughout his life and career.
