During the broadcast, Giacomo Federico gives a short history of the cloned and counterfeit electrical components epidemic and describes the global scope of the problem.  Joseph Federico explains the steps that make up its state-of-the-art Mission Imposter program and how the engineers in NJMET’s Clifton, New Jersey laboratory identify counterfeit components. It starts with examining the paperwork accompanying the parts and a visual inspection of the components themselves.  The process continues through deeper and deeper levels of inspection including: marking and dimension checks, internal visual analysis, material analysis and electrical testing to insure the safety of each distribution transaction.
