Oct. 8, 2010 - PRLog -- (Apple Valley, Minn.) – Minnesota Second District Congressional candidate Shelley Madore responded today to incumbent Republican John Kline's statement regarding the U.S. Department of Labor's reported loss of 95,000 jobs in September. She called on the Congressman to immediately offer a solution.

John Kline stated, "It’s time for lawmakers to listen and learn – to listen to our constituents and learn from the failed policies that have not delivered the economic recovery the American people were promised."

Madore responded, "Representative Kline's call for lawmakers to listen and learn rings hollow. In eight years, Mr. Kline has avoided almost every opportunity to do so. As a state representative and longtime community volunteer, I worked with city, county, state and school officials, many of whom complained that John Kline refused their request for funds for important projects. In addition, dozens of voters, who represent various groups as citizen lobbyists, have told me that Rep. Kline refuses to meet with them in his local office or in Washington D.C., to discuss important issues. He refuses to debate me during this critical election year, to allow constituents to ask questions and assess his past job performance."

"Mr. Kline points out a problem, and attempts to blame others, but in eight years he hasn't offered a single solution. As my 35 Cent Tour has highlighted, hundreds of projects in our community are being deferred due to lack of Federal funding. These projects are eligible to receive Federal tax dollars we have already paid in. But Mr. Kline has chosen not to request those dollars. For every dollar we pay in Federal taxes, we receive only 35 cents to invest in our community."

"By not requesting these dollars for jobs in our district, Mr. Kline is just giving us more partisan baloney. If he's not meeting with local officials or constituents, not engaging in public debate with his opponent and not working hard to bring jobs to our district, what exactly is John Kline doing in Washington?"
