Password Management Suite helps campuses centralize forgot, change and reset password requests

Sept. 30, 2010 - PRLog -- Lehigh Carbon Community College (LCCC), located in Schnecksville, PA, has implemented CampusEAI Consortium's new Password Management Suite on their myCampus portal system. The Password Management Suite is available to all members currently utilizing myCampus 6.4.1 and later versions.

LCCC's Password Management Suite is configured to meet the institution's individual needs and allows users to leverage feature functionalities including:
•   Password Reset
•   Forgotten Password access through security questions
•   Password Synchronization
•   Password Expiration Warning

Password Management Suite supports:
•   Password Reset in one or more LDAP directory
•   Custom, user-generated security questions and answers for password retrieval
•   Email notifications of reset activity
•   Password Generation & Verification based in a configurable password policy

The Password Management Suite enables myCampus portal users at LCCC to streamline their passwords and authorizations across network applications with an optional feature that requires users to answer identity verification questions; another way to add customization through the myCampus portal. Identity verification questions are stored within the Password Management Suite, allowing recall 24x7x365—versus the traditional business hours of a help desk.

Institutions who have recently selected the Password Management Suite, including LCCC, recently showcased the functionality and capabilities during the myCampus User Group Roundtable on Friday, August 20. During this session, users learned how to leverage the suite’s features and configure them to individual needs. Members who could not attend the Roundtable and are interested in learning more can access session recordings on the Community Site.

“Password Management Suite was a must-have requirement of Lehigh Carbon Community College’s portal deployment,” said Anwar Karim, Chief Information Officer at Lehigh Carbon Community College. “Being a non-residential community college, LCCC lacks a formal student help desk. As we chose to provide e-mail, LMS and Banner access to over 16,000 students only via the portal – we needed to ensure our students can manage their passwords without ongoing help from the College’s staff. We have the tool engineered in such a way that everyone is required to set their three security questions and change their initial password at the first time of log-on before they can proceed. We have had very few instances where IT staff had to reset user passwords.”

“We are pleased to provide the Password Management Suite to Lehigh Carbon Community College,” said Anjli Jain, Executive Director of the CampusEAI Consortium. “This new feature will give the College a reliable and cost-efficient source for password recovery that can be customized for the ease and convenience of each user.”
