Kindergarten Day USA and China Debuts September 2010

New Book Explores Similarities between Children on Opposite Ends of the World

Sept. 15, 2010 - PRLog -- Kindergarten Day USA and China, The Global Fund for Children’s first flip-me-over book, explores the lives of children on opposite ends of the world through playful photos and text. Spend a day with a kindergarten class from New York, USA. Turn the book over and enter a kindergarten classroom in Beijing, China, as a new school day starts. As each hour passes, both classes read stories, draw pictures, make friends, and wonder what happens on the other side of the world.

“We hope this book brings children closer together in a globalized world,” said Cynthia Pon, director of children’s books at The Global Fund for Children. “With Kindergarten Day USA and China, children can get a head start on global understanding by peeking into the everyday lives of their peers half a world away, going to school and doing kids’ stuff.”

Like all Global Fund for Children books, Kindergarten Day USA and China encourages children to explore diversity and to become active and caring members of a global society. It depicts positive images of children and integrates children’s perspectives to show the common experiences that children around the world share.

Kindergarten Day USA and China supports a broader mission. A portion of the proceeds from the sales of Kindergarten Day USA and China and all Global Fund for Children books supports innovative community-based organizations serving vulnerable children and youth worldwide. This Global Fund for Children book is published by Charlesbridge Publishing in cooperation with The Global Fund for Children.

Maya Ajmera, president and founder of The Global Fund for Children, is available for interviews. To arrange an interview or request a copy of the book, please contact Jerry Irvine at 202-331-9003.
