By: Kevin Haughwout Haughwout, 30, may have an MBA from New York University’s Stern School of Business, but he knew that he wasn’t likely to get a job in social media marketing until he could show that he had managed a successful social media campaign. So he has launched a campaign on his own. Haughwout recently launched his “Hire Kevin Haughwout!” campaign through his website http://www.haughwoutworks.com (pronounced “how it works”). Haughwout uses short YouTube videos on the site to tell his story in a fun and visual manner, and he’s been spreading word of the site through his networks on Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. The key to Haughwout’s strategy is to encourage visitors to share the site with their social networks, so it’s critical that it’s easy for them to do so. Visitors can share a single video or the entire site with friends on Facebook, Twitter, and several other channels with as few as two mouse clicks. A sharer gets the satisfaction of helping a young man in his job hunt, and Haughwout gets his name and face one step closer to his future employer’s computer screen. “You may not be hiring, and you may not know anyone who’s hiring, but I bet you know someone who knows someone who knows someone who’s hiring,” Haughwout explains in one of the site’s videos. “It’s the magic of the social web.” About Kevin Haughwout: Kevin Haughwout writes a marketing blog at http://www.freedmarketer.com and is the organizer of the monthly “Social Media Coffeehouse” If you’d like more information on the “Hire Kevin Haughwout!” campaign or wish to schedule an interview, contact Kevin by phone at 412-260-0599 or by e-mail at kevin@freedmarketer.com End
