International Video Game Hall of Fame Announces Next Year's Event Dates

Sept. 1, 2010 - PRLog -- Big Bang 2010, the inaugural event for the International Video Game Hall of Fame’s annual gaming festival ended with dates for next years events, statistics and more.

Big Bang 2011 is scheduled to take place Aug. 4-7 in Ottumwa, Iowa, at the Bridgeview Center.  While inductees have not been selected for next year’s induction ceremony, the process is underway for nominations.

More than 4,000 people turned out for the first annual event and participated in tournaments, scavenger hunts and more.  In addition, more than 30 video game VIPs attended the event, including Billy Mitchell, Steve Weibe, Pac-Man, Fatal1ty and others.  

In addition to concerts and the induction ceremonies, the event consisted of more than 26 individual tournaments that spanned the entire continuum of video games, including the Gamer of the Year tournament.  Hans Becker was awarded a $1,000 prize for completing the six rounds the Gamer of the Year.  There were also family-friendly free play areas, including classic console systems as well as modern day systems, a Pac-Man arcade, vendors and informational booths for everyone to enjoy

Area businesses reported an increase of more than double their normal revenue for the weekend as a result of the event.

Many of the VIPs and inductees who attended this year have already made reservations for next year.  Individuals interested in attending next years event are advised to make hotel reservations now.
