Unfortunately, the next thing people usually do is engage in “Vampire Thinking.” They start sucking the good – the potential – out of the possibility. They make excuses such as “I shouldn’t spend the money. It’s a long way to go for a workshop. It may not be that interesting and I would have done it all for nothing. What can I do about it anyway?” They continue to rationalize and make excuses until the idea has been sucked dry of its vitality and its promise.

People need to increase their awareness of how “Vampire Thinking” is robbing them every day of many wonderful potential life experiences.  The good news is that people can become conscious of the frequency and extent to which Vampire Thinking is draining their chances for fulfillment and happiness.  When people get the magnitude of what this way of thinking is costing them, they are ready to take steps to stop.
