Nationally Acclaimed Author Daniel Reveles in San Diego

SAN DIEGO, CA August, 2010 This August San Diegans can look forward to three separate reading events by nationally-acclaimed author Daniel Reveles.  Don't miss this wonderful opportunity to sit down with a master storyteller and listen to his romantic stories from Tecate. Love stories, poignant stories, incredible stories—all laced with the magic of Mexico! He'll also read from his two award-winning books, Guacamole Dip and Tequila, Lemon and Salt.
In Tequila, Lemon, and Salt, Reveles takes readers to the border town of Tecate, where magical events happen daily, where both witchcraft and prayers are commonly employed for battling painful twists of fate, and where love and hope are equally powerful forces of nature.  Jaime E. Olivares of La Opinión calls it, “a lively portrait of a dual society.”  
   In Guacamole Dip, Daniel Reveles brings another helping of stories to the table—smooth yet spicy, and bursting with colorful characters. He offers us glimpses of young lovers and old friends, fierce rivals and friendly conspirators, a few familiar faces and plenty of newcomers. Though peppered with intrigue and heart-break, even the most poignant tales are flavored with the author’s zesty humor.
   Daniel Reveles was born in Los Angeles of Mexican-born parents and spent many years involved in the entertainment industry, as a disc jockey, songwriter, and television producer. He fell in love with Tecate thirty years ago and has lived not too far from there ever since. A popular storyteller, he frequently travels around the country, speaking to university audiences and creative writing students. His books have garnered a number of national and regional honors, including a ForeWord Book-of-the-Year Award and the prestigious Theodore Geisel award.
   His first signing will be on Friday, August 13th, at 7 pm in the café at Borders El Cajon.  If you miss that event, you can find him on August 19th at Upstart Crow Bookstore and Coffeehouse at 7 pm or, finally, a little closer to home at the Imperial Beach library, August 23rd at 6 pm.  Be there!
