This campaign is interspersed with cinematic kitsch and ugly as can be, coupled with French voices certainly paid ticket restaurant. In short, we soon forget them beside the campaign.

May 24, 2010 - PRLog -- Nearly three years after the release of Heroes of Might and Magic II, now considered mythical New World Computing has finally decided to replenish the drug addicts from the series by releasing a new episode. Difficult to follow his illustrious ancestor, as one might think the gameplay is almost perfect. Yet, after dozens of hours spent on this new episode, the dependence is getting to feel again. Yes, Heroes of Might and Magic III is a worthy successor to his predecessor, proved to be the best episode of the series. http://www.pcgametrek.com/heroes-of-might-and-magic-3/

As in the second episode, Heroes of Might and Magic III proposes a campaign that will help you discover (or learn if you've never touched the series) mechanisms seemingly complex and often obscure the game 's is actually well stocked with six campaigns in various missions are playable, and three are unlockable by finishing the first three. The scenario is always a bit kitschy, but who cares, this is not history that makes us love Heroes. To sum still brief history of the game: the kingdom of Erathia, the country of human kind, is invaded from all sides following the death of King. You play so his daughter, Queen Catherine Ironfist of Enroth (just that), and you swear to reclaim your heritage. The six campaigns are actually many different camps to embody, and everyone takes part in the invasion of the kingdom, which of course proves more complex than expected.

When we launched the first part, the graphics are glaring. In a 800X600 superb, the maps are full of details monsters scattered artifacts scattered on the map, goblins, magic ... well What is surprising is that the fan of Heroes of Might and Magic II will not be lost, and come to recognize at first glance any object on the map. And yet, everything is different: the graphics have been refined, displaying a style less "cartoony rough" the second episode but keeping the same themes and color schemes that give a kitsch fantasy pleasant and suitable for serial . Clearly, we are entitled to a graphic realization of the world of Heroes of Might and Magic (HOMM) successful.

On the bottom, little has changed are the same mechanisms that govern the game: HOMM 3 is always a turn-based game, where one day equals one turn, and where production units increases each week . Each day, the hero and his troops can travel some distance (depending on skills of the hero) to take mine that will yield resources, attack monsters that block access to treasuries or collect bonuses. Each day, the player can build a castle owned by a single building (or the main base being built units, to quickly). These are the basic rules of all Heroes of Might and Magic, and this third episode does not call into question the subtle gameplay.

Heroes of Might & Magic 3 has eight different cities, which are all different camps (Castles in humans, Hades for demons, undead Necropolis to the Tower for magicians, etc ...), and each city has its strengths and weaknesses. For example, the cities of the Tour does not produce units very powerful compared to other cities, but are more focused on the magic of the hero, offering more spells in magic tricks, and increase the statistical magic heroes . Other cities will be specialized for example in the rush, producing the early rounds of the powerful units. But if the party grows, this camp will have units at the end of the most powerful part, playing a key role in the game In summary, each side has its own strengths and weaknesses, and it is better to know before start a game.

The focus of Rights, are of course heroes are the ones who are raking in the experience after each battle, which conquered territories, who lead their troops on the battlefield and what are their skills (focusing on the magic , combat, morale, luck ...) that largely determine the outcome of the battle. And there are many changes in this episode for heroes. Starting with the inventory. Gone are the sort of belt-record the second episode, where you could store your artifacts not worry about it: now, to enjoy artifacts found on the map, you must wear them.

The magic book heroes is also undergoing changes. This is not a simple book that serves to keep the spells. It is now divided into four parts, corresponding to four schools of magic: water, fire, earth and sea can specialize through skills in one of these areas.

Practically no heroes on the battlefield. They can only cast spells (once per round only), but by their skills, they are fundamental, and we spend a lot of time choosing what artifacts they will be and what powers it will give them (the heroes possess only ten, not one more).

The castles serve basis and also undergo some modifications welcome. They are clearer, more logical, and each has a very different style. The list of buildings for construction is finally staged, and it finally understands easily what are the prerequisites for the construction of such buildings without clicking on the other twenty.

In terms of fighting, finally, nothing has changed in the mechanisms: when a hero is attacking monsters wandering the map or another hero, a new screen opens battlefield, and units of each hero s 'face. The order of units is then a function of expertise of the hero, and the speed of each creature. We also regret the fact that the fighting will not be a little clearer. The beginner will inevitably be lost: impossible to know which unit will play its turn, and why it is before another. It is understood later, after many experiments, but aid had been welcome.

There are still a few novelties in the fighting. These include, in no particular order, the tactical competence that allows the hero to be able to place their units on the battlefield before the battle is engaged, some new spells, with the arrival of the four schools of magic, tents care, trucks of ammunition and a ballista, which make a notable appearance and useful in combat. Finally, it is now possible (with a special skill) to control the catapult during sieges. But overall, the mechanisms are identical to the second episode, so that the veterans of the series will not be lost.

And therein lies the rub in this Heroes of Might & Magic 3. The excessive classicism of this episode may well confuse beginners, and will not attract those who do not like the second. MAN 3 is clearly the final episode for all fans of the series. Thus, whoever wants to dive without ever touching may quickly become demotivated if he do not treat. Too mechanisms remain obscure, and the game overall lack of clear explanations. Finally, everything is learned on the job: how to know in advance that the archers do not shoot at a distance when an enemy unit is on an adjacent? How do I know it is possible to buy a high-level heroes who fought back? Almost everything is learned through experience gained over many hours playing, and it is sometimes frustrating. Fortunately, the game worth the candle. Once the most integrated mechanisms, Heroes of Might & Magic 3 is a real gem, offering incredible depth and duration of life enormous. The campaign will ask you to say the least fifty hours of play, while the scenarios in skirmish mode can be replayed many times with different sides, which changes each time the given tactic. Finally, the multiplayer you occupy for long evenings (HOMM 3 is one of few games to propose a hotseat mode), and very active community regularly offers new maps produced by the scenario editor is extremely easy to take hand.

You will understand, this third episode is a real achievement, a jewel that you will love the turn by turn. A title must, in short.
