May 11, 2010 - PRLog -- The 14th Annual Festival Yachad and the Michael-Ann Russell Jewish Community Center/Sanford L. Ziff Campus, 18900 NE 25th Avenue, North Miami Beach, FL  will present its Gala Dance Performance on Sunday, May 30, at 7pm at the Au-Rene Theatre, Broward Center for the Performing Arts, and a Children’s Dance Performance on Sunday, June 6, at 5pm at the North Miami Beach Performing Arts Theatre.

Following last year’s success, Festival Yachad will feature more than 600 dancers on stage from our own community and invited groups from Mexico, Brazil, Venezuela, Panama, and Israel performing Israeli folkdance music, with colorful costumes, amazing scenery and special lighting effects. This year Festival Yachad turns 14 years old, and will be celebrating Jewish Women, therefore the gala’s theme is “Nashim”, which in Hebrew means “Women”.  Each choreographed dance will portray a Jewish tradition that women do, like the Mikveh, Chalah making, Henna, etc…Biblical Women such as Miriam, Rachel, Dvorah, and Esther will also be portrayed. Modern women such as Ofra Haza, Naomi Shemer and Sarit Haddad will be honored as well. “It is a wonderful way to educate our children about their heritage, while they perform our Jewish Traditions”, explains, Nicole Papu, Festival Yachad Co-Chair.

“Festival Yachad is sponsored by Safra National Bank of New York and it is a pleasure for us to be associated with such a strong financial institution, that provides us with the support we need to bring this event to audiences in both Miami-Dade and Broward Counties”, added Esther Fuhrman, Festival Yachad Co-Chair.

A very special performance will take place on Friday, ay 28, at 10am, at the Michael-Ann Russell JCC, featuring the invited troupes. “This will be an educationally entertaining performance for school groups and seniors as they learn about Israeli dance, and how Jewish culture and heritage is incorporated into its choreography and movement,” explains Roger Weiger, Festival Yachad’s Director. There is no admission charge to this Special Performance which is made possible by the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs and the Cultural Affairs council, the Miami-Dade County Tourist Development Council, the Miami-Dade Mayor and Board of County Commissioners.

Tickets for the Gala Performance will range between $10 and $35 and will be available for purchase at the Broward Center Box Office.
