“Car crime in the 21st century and the impact of electronic theft methods” was released in late 2009 and exposed the methods in which criminals are choosing to overcome security devices as well as ways in which Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) can develop systems to combat these global trends.
Jeremy Worthington, Director of Vehicle Security at SBD commented, “Over the years, new vehicles have become more difficult to steal, but thieves have adapted their methods to counteract much of the new technology available. They have developed new tools and techniques to allow them to continue making profit from car theft as well as cloning, staged accidents, identity theft and finance fraud. SBD is pleased to support AVCIS and IAATI with the benefits of our technical knowledge, detailed research into the latest theft methods and tools being used by thieves around the world.”
AVCIS announced it will be launching a national car crime awareness week in the UK which also coincides with its partnership in IAATI’s National Vehicle Crime Conference.
Both organisations are committed to reducing organised theft and tackling all vehicle enabled crimes. IAATI UK Branch President Dr Ken German and AVCIS Head of Unit DCI Mark Hooper believe the conference offers an essential opportunity for all interested parties to share expertise and discuss current trends in tackling vehicle crime.
The conference is open to crime reduction specialists, senior investigating officers, analysts, fire and rescue services, insurance and aftermarket specialists and security service providers.
