In a Losing Economy There Are Still Some Winners

The Way to Work wins the 2010 New York Life Foundation Award for Manhattan.

April 29, 2010 - PRLog -- New York, NY, Thursday, April 29, 2010- The Way to Work won the 2010 New York Life Foundation Award for Manhattan.  Only one organization from each borough in New York City was awarded and one from Westchester County out of 60 applicants.  

Hector Batista, Chief Executive Director of The Way to Work said, “It’s a great honor to have my organization acknowledged for the outstanding work it has consistently done in its 74 years of existence.  This recognition gives me the resolve to ensure that we continue providing our quality services at no cost to low-income young people in New York City.”

Kenneth M. Raisler, Esq., The Way to Work’s Board Chairman, said, “It is great to be number 1 in Manhattan. This is a tribute to the dedicated work of the staff and a recognition of the importance of our mission. Serving displaced youth at this time in our economy could not be more important."

Mr. Batista and Mr. Raisler both attended an awards breakfast in which they were presented with a one-time check of $25,000.  This award proves that The Way to Work is an effective youth workforce development organization.  

The Way To Work, founded in 1936, is a 501(c) 3 nonprofit workforce organization that encourages low-income young people ages 17-24 to achieve their highest potential through free hands-on-job training, education and job placement.
