Insolvency experts Poppleton & Appleby advise troubled South Warwickshire Tourism

April 9, 2010 - PRLog -- Shareholders and creditors of South Warwickshire Tourism – which ceased trading on March 31 – have been called to a meeting later this month.

The board of South Warwickshire Tourism, which trades as Shakespeare Country, has called in insolvency experts Poppleton & Appleby after Stratford District Council deferred a decision to issue a grant to the organisation forcing it to cease trading.

That meant the tourist information offices in Stratford and Leamington Spa were closed for Easter and remain shut.

The board has been advised by insolvency experts Poppleton & Appleby, which has offices in Birmingham and Coventry.

The firm is expected to be appointed as liquidators at the meeting on April 28 at the Stratford Manor Hotel (11am).

Gavin Bates, of Poppleton & Appleby, said: “When liquidators are appointed they have to see what interest there is in the company and its assets.

“Obviously the brand of Shakespeare Country and its web presence may well be of interest to other parties and we will be working with the company over the next few weeks to seek the best way forward for all concerned.”
