Feb. 25, 2010 - PRLog -- It’s that time of year again. News stations, radio shows, and probably two of your closest friends are talking about it—American Idol. This week kicked off the first performances that are voted on by fans, with the top 12 Idol girls singing Tuesday night. Whether or not they were singing their best, they certainly looked the part. Some of the girls looked quite different with the help of a team behind them. They knew what products to use, and how to use them.

While it is a singing competition, it can easily be argued that American Idol wears a lot of other hats in the entertainment industry. Something Simon always points out is when a contestant has a style or look that is “sellable.” Of course, this means viewers are scrutinizing the appearances of each hopeful singer to grace their television screens, and why not? It would be happening without Simon’s (not so) subtle suggestions, too.

Didi Benami Idol

One of the girls who sticks out the most is Didi Benami. You may remember her as the heartstring-pulling-crying girl who burst into tears after her first audition. While her sincerity was evident, so was the oily shine glistening across her forehead. It followed her through Hollywood week, but fortunately for her, didn’t receive a golden ticket to make her first live performance. The right bath body products can do wonders, and Didi’s skin was flawless for the cameras Tuesday night. http://sabonnyc.com/index.cfm/a/article.show/artid/147

Crystal Bowersox Idol

The second of the girls who looked noticeably different is Crystal Bowersox. The dreadlocked mother of one has her own style, but that style was a bit more polished for her Alannis Morrissette cover on stage. Her skin seemed much smoother and camera friendly. Even though her extra reinforcements probably washed off in the shower that night, she did resemble what one might expect from a Hollywood hopeful. While still keeping her style, of course, which did include a harmonica.

The Idol judges and fans seemed to share a common consensus about the first live night for season 9—and it wasn’t a very positive one. Will both of these girls be back with their lovely new appearances in town?
