Why Nick Arrojo’s New Show Will Survive Sweeps

With celebirity Nick Arrojo signing an NBC deal earlier, many are questioning whether such a move will prove as successful as "What not to wear". We disagree and here's why

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) - Feb 23, 2010 -
Hair stylist Nick Arrojo, famously known for doing hair on the TLC show “What Not to Wear,” is taking his razor and fashion knowledge to television network NBC. He’s developing a reality TV show, of course. His new found home on the peacock network should be a good fit, and fans are looking forward to seeing one of their favorite stylists back on TV.

Interviews and Internet forums are scattered with questions and predictions for details about the show, but with production still in the development stage, it’s purely speculation. And hope!

Feeding some of the wonder, Arrojo has given some insight about how his new production will be. The program will highlight his Manhattan studio, as well as staff and students making their way through the cutting edge world of hair. Arrojo says that he is looking forward to showing the world what goes on within the hair industry, and the challenges he faces as a successful businessman.

Arrojo is a well-known hair stylist both in person and through entertainment. After being the creative force behind hairstyles on “What Not to Wear,” his time with the show came to an abrupt end, though much to the delight of reality TV aficionados. His studio holds a “client charter,” as well, which is open for anyone to fill one of the seats in his sought after location. Arrojo doesn’t practice the exclusiveness the fashion world might lead you to expect, perhaps helping him maintain a closer relationship with the many who appreciate his work.

As for why Nick parted ways with TLC, he tactfully expressed it as a mutual agreement when the network came to him with plans to move in a new direction. Surely it was not the decision of celebrity sweetheart, Clinton Kelly, who was halfway through his 2009 tour of Make Over America. He took 15 ordinary women and gave them the ultimate makeover—from sneakers to Steve Madden boots.

Arrojo said he was sad to leave, but is proud of his work while on the show. Reality shows aren’t new, but Arrojo is expected to bring some excitement to primetime, and what better a platform than reality TV?
