The Best in Contemporary CeramicsIn our newly renovated gallery, Foothills Art Center presents it’s most beloved exhibition—Colorado Clay, March 13–May 1, 2010.
This year’s juror, Adrian Arleo, is a studio artist living in Lolo, Montana. She studied Art and Anthropology at Pitzer College and received her MFA in ceramics from the Rhode Island School of Design in 1986. She is perhaps most well known for her exploration of the figure and using compelling organic textures to hint at the nature of each figure. Ms. Arleo selected 14 artists who will submit up to ten pieces – a number which offers a significant and compelling look into each artist’s body of work. The artists selected are: Katie Caron, Carrie Doman, Caroline Douglas, Robin Furuta, Marie E.v.B. Gibbons, Scarlett Kanistanaux, Jonathan Kaplan, Jonathan & Valerie Nicklow, Paul F. Morris, Eve Partridge, Chandler Romeo, Nancy Utterback and Pete Wysong Colorado Clay features a variety of techniques, surfaces and thematic approaches. The exhibiting artists explore figurative, architectural, organic, functional and narrative concerns as well as video installation.
