July 20, 2010 - PRLog -- Golden, CO, July 1, 2010—Foothills Art Center is opening its vault to reveal a collection
of “Hidden Gems.” Although it is not a collecting institution, Foothills Art Center has, over the years, acquired a fantastic array of art from its members, exhibiting artists and patrons. Even those who have visited before will see a diverse array of unique and renowned paintings and sculptures rarely seen by anyone in decades. This rare opportunity will be available to art lovers and patrons alike during Foothills Art Center’s Hidden Gems exhibition, held July 5–August 20, with an opening to coincide with the North American Sculpture exhibition, taking place in FAC’s main gallery space on July 16, 5:30-8 pm.

Guest curator Rose Fredrick, said, “There are some true gems in the collection, including an Otto Kuhler watercolor landscape, which shows the well-known illustrator's deftness of hand and sureness of brushwork.”

Nearly 40 pieces of various mediums, concepts and styles will be on display, representing some of the best artists that Foothills Art Center and its history have ever known. The majority of the works, many which are paintings and sculpture of historic importance, will be for sale during the run of this exhibition. Among the artists with works on view are Conrad Schwiering, Edgar Britton, Earl Stroh, Fred Meyers, David Yust, Ron Kingswood, Ramon Kelley, Kim English, Otto Kuhler, Frank Francese, and numerous other important Colorado artists. With great pride and pleasure, Foothills Art Center opens its doors and its collection to the community.
