Feb. 17, 2010 - PRLog -- Stephen Roberts, Founder and Managing Director of C and R Technologies, leading national providers of Satellite Dish and TV Aerial installation services, are advising viewers to switch to ‘Freeview’ or BT Vision using a TV aerial, freesat, or Sky, using a satellite dish.
“We recommend a wideband rooftop aerial for the best reception. We do not recommend loft aerials, as the digital signal strength is reduced because the aerial is located inside the roof structure. They are also more susceptible to interference from the other electrical equipment within the home,” says Stephen.

A Satellite Dish with either a non subscription service such as the BBC/ITV freesat service or Sky TV subscription or non subscription services can also be used as an alternative to a TV aerial to receive Digital TV and Radio.
“The whole thing has been a nightmare from the start,” says Stephen. “Virgin Media are responsible for repairs to the cable TV network, with BT repairing and supposedly upgrading the cables. Virgin Media don't seem to understand the network, and if you call them to report a fault, they ask you to reset the Set Top Box (STB) which some viewers don’t have, or they request you should get the channel through your rooftop aerial, which you don't have either, in addition the two organisations often disagree over who is responsible for repairs.”

No digital channels are available via Virgin Media Analouge Cable although it is possible to subscribe to additional channels with an STB.

The area is due for analogue signal turn off in 2012.

“It is recommended that viewers in Milton Keynes wishing to switch to digital TV reception use a Confederation of Aerial Industries PLUS (CAI PLUS) and Trading Standards Approved company as this ensures that the company and its engineers are fully insured, trustworthy, regularly inspected and vetted by the CAI and Trading Standards, so guaranteeing the quality of service to the highest industry and customer service standards,” adds Stephen.
Costs will vary depending on the type of property, equipment and providers, and range between £120 - £250 fully installed.

The company recently launched a new Mobile Phone Signal Booster service with prices starting from as low as £349.99 fully installed, anywhere in the country. The service is ideal for domestic use, small to medium sized businesses and on-call, out of hours workers, or travelling sales reps, where mobile phone connectivity 24x7 is essential.
Milton Keynes District Council will allow TV aerials to be installed outside a domestic or commercial property, although listed buildings and commercial properties may have to apply for planning permission.

The Virgin Media Milton Keynes Cable was originally a showpiece of technology. It belonged to BT, who were required by Legislation to dispose of it. NTL agreed to lease it, and Virgin Media acquired it on the 'merger' with NTL.

The MK cable is a hybrid, copper, aluminum and some fibre optic. It carries an unscrambled UHF signal which does not require a STB for the basic relay. The relay includes: BBC1, BBC2, ITV Anglia, ITV Central, Channel 4 (in two positions), Five, QVC, BBC News 24, and Hallmark (in place of Sky1) as well as several national radio channels and a cable only station (CRMK) which are received on a standard radio connected to a separate FM socket.
