Waukesha Choral Union Auditions Announced For Second Semester of 2009-2010 Season

Waukesha Choral Union will hold open auditions for the second semester of the 2009-2010 season Tuesday, January 26, 2010 beginning at 7:00 p.m. at Waukesha South High School, 401 E. Roberta Ave., Waukesha, WI 53186-6637, in Choral Room 113.

PRLog - Jan. 10, 2010 - WAUKESHA, Wis. -- Waukesha, WI – The Waukesha Choral Union (WCU) will hold open auditions for the second semester of the 2009-2010 season Tuesday, January 26, 2010 beginning at 7:00 p.m. at Waukesha South High School, 401 E. Roberta Ave., Waukesha, WI 53186-6637, in Choral Room 113.

Scheduled auditions with music director Earnest Brusubardis, III will last 10 minutes and include vocal exercises, simple music sight-reading, and part-singing.  Preparation of a solo is encouraged but not required.  An accompanist will be provided.

Brusubardis is also inviting all prospective members to an open rehearsal on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 beginning at 7:00 p.m. at Waukesha South High School in Choral Room 113,  “This will be an opportunity to see how a rehearsal is run, followed by a reception where they can mix and mingle with current members and enjoy refreshments.”

Two concerts will be performed in the second semester of the 2009-2010 Waukesha Choral Union season: Sunday, March 26, 2010, Haydn’s “Creation;”  WCU will also be part of the collaborative chorus for a performance Sunday, May 16, 2010, of Verdi’s “Requiem” with the Bel Canto Chorus, Milwaukee Choristers, and the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Richard Hynson.

As the premiere vocal group in the area, the Waukesha Choral Union has been musically active in the community for over 50 years.  Originally a combination of the Carroll College student chorus and community singers known as the Waukesha Choral Society in 1949, the group became the Town and Gown in 1961 and the Waukesha Choral Union in 1974, taking its present form as an auditioned choir in 1978.   For more information, visit http://www.ChoralUnion.org
