Amarone della Valpolicella is the unquestioned king of the wines of Verona. It was originally made under the ancient production of Recioto which then became dry and bitter purely by chance; as a result since the beginning of the 20th century it has been called "Amarone", from the adjective "amaro" meaning "bitter". The unique and unmistakable feature of this wine is its production from original grapes of Valpolicella:
Another unique characteristic of this wine is the process of vinification:
The wine: This 2003 Amarone Classico 'Riserva Gino Cordin', from the famous Accordini vineyard, comes in a magnificent magnum bottle and packs a weighty punch of 16.5% vol. It is presented in a wooden box, wax sealed cork and limited to only 5,842 bottles, with each individually numbered.
The wine is a deep garnet red with a rich and concentrated bouquet of dried fruit - uncork 2 hours before serving and enjoy in large balloon glasses.
Grapes: Corvina Veronese 75%, Rondinella 20%, Molinara 5%
This wine is certainly one which should be brought out at the Christmas table to enjoy with family and friends - with its fantastic packaging, it also makes a great present for those of you who enjoy exclusive wine - see more details at http://www.vinvinodirect.com/
