FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
PR Log (Press Release) –
Oct 16, 2009 – Somerset journalist Ross Hemsworth believes that the child Support Agency should be charged with manslaughter for being directly responsible for the suicides of 61 non resident fathers who have been harassed beyond reason by this "over-powerful agency".
The CSA are now pushing through new legislation that will allow them to issue liability orders and instruct bailiffs WITHOUT EVEN HAVING TO GO TO COURT! Already, the agency has the power to remove your driving licence, passport and even have you sent to prison! No wonder some fathers commit suicide? Some fathers are in serious financial hardship and CANNOT make payments to the CSA, whilst others have agreed full and final settlements with their former partners which are then not recognised by the CSA. "I fall into both categories, but still they pursue me" said Hemsworth today. If a man is on benefits and below the collection threshold of the CSA, how can they be allowed to progress to these extreme measures KNOWING that he will be in no better position to pay without his driving licence (as he would be unable to get to any place of employment) or by serving a period in prison? The laws need changing URGENTLY and perhaps by taking the CSA to court for manslaughter, maybe then we will get the attention of the law-makers who feel that all father's who are being chased are just "won't pay dads"!
