British journalist Ross Hemsworth, has called upon President Obama to step in over the matter of the proposed extradition of Gary McKinnon to the USA and "prove he is WORTH the Nobel Prize" by standing by his commitment to human rights and civil liberties.
McKinnon suffers from a form of Autism called Aspergers Syndrome, a condition also suffered by the journalists daughter, and says "this guy just wanted the facts about UFO's, he's no master hacker! As anyone who understand Aspergers knows, sufferers cannot tolerate maybe's, they have to know for sure and that's why Gary went seeking this information, he did not intend any illegal activity".
Hemsworth says that McKinnon should face a UK trial and a UK prison sentence if found guilty, but should NOT face extradition to the USA to stand trial.
He asks President Obama to show compassion to McKinnon and his family by releasing the call fro extradition and asking the UK government to give him a trial in the United Kingdom.
When McKinnon was originally arrested, he was allegedly told that if he admitted guilt he would get a "few months community service", but now the charges seem to have massively increased since the new extradition treaty between the UK and USA came into force! In a UK court, the US would have to PROVE these additional charges as they had to with a "friendly fire incident" just a short while back, and at that time they tried to object to providing such evidence as "sensitive".
So in the open release to our colleagues in the US press we ask you to publish this across the USA and openly ask President Obama to show his REAL desire for true human rights and civil liberties, by letting McKinnon stand trial in his own country.
