New Produce Home Delivery Service Offers Members Many Options

FieldFresh, the produce delivery service from SteeleFarms, is offering something that other similar services may be missing -- options.

Oct. 16, 2009 - PRLog -- AUSTIN, TX –  After only 18 weeks of deliveries to customers in Central Texas, it’s clear that FieldFresh, the produce delivery service from SteeleFarms, is offering something other similar services may be missing --  options.

“I’ve been receiving produce from SteeleFarms since their very first week of delivery,” said Janelle Collier.  “It’s exciting to taste so many different kinds of produce all grown right here in Central Texas.”

Collier is no stranger to programs similar to the one SteeleFarms offers.  She participated in others prior to joining and has a unique perspective on how FieldFresh is different.  “First and foremost,” said Collier, “you know in advance what the farm delivers each week.  This allows me to plan a weekly menu around the produce and take full advantage of each week’s delivery.”

“When were developing our delivery service, letting people know in advance what we planned to deliver was a critical element,” said Trey Steele, who leads the Consumer Experience team for the Farm.  “It needed to be more than just a quick note the day before.  We wanted to provide enough notice so that customers were planning menus, finding new recipes, and making FieldFresh an integral part of their weekly diet.”

But the farm didn’t stop with advance notice.  They also addressed another limitation they had heard about similar programs – giving customers the option to customize their deliveries.

“I love being able to customize my weekly delivery,” Collier continued.  “It allows me to take out produce that we may not enjoy and add more of what we love.  Plus the farm usually offers some optional vegetables and this gives us a chance to try those.”

“Customization was always in the FieldFresh plan,” said Steele.  “We knew that in order to be a welcome resource to customers, we couldn’t afford to deliver produce that they grew themselves, were allergic to, or just plain didn’t want.  In a model like that, people may try you for one season.  But if they don’t feel like they’re getting good value for their investment, more than likely they won’t renew.”

FieldFresh customers do all their customization via the Internet.  They can review their weekly harvest share, make additions, remove items they may not want, and even add custom delivery instructions.
