October is Dyslexia Awareness Month – Fundraiser Event

To raise awareness of Dyslexia Awareness Month, Lansing Christian School will host a Varsity Volleyball & Pack the Gym fundraiser event on October 22, 2009, from 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM

To raise awareness of Dyslexia Awareness Month,
Lansing Christian School will host a
Varsity Volleyball & Pack the Gym fundraiser event on
October 22, 2009, from 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM
at Lansing Christian School

16 year old Jenny Smith, author of the newly published and released soft cover book, Dyslexia Wonders, and artist Allison Witte, illustrator, will be at this event to personally autograph these books, which will be for sale. Both girls are students at Lansing Christian High School.

Proceeds from this event, as well as a portion of the book sales, will go to Jenny’s Wish Foundation*, for scholarships to local students struggling with learning disabilities.

Other exhibits include:
* Silent auction (including 32"HDTV donated by Simply Like Home, three nights stay at a lakefront vacation home donated by Vacations Made Simple, and testing services by Dyslexia Institute of Michigan)

* ATA Student Demo Team performing marshal arts moves choreographed to music.
* Door prizes like ice cream cones, coffee coupons, restaurant gift cards and more

*  Representatives from the International Dyslexia Association, The Michigan Dyslexia Institute, Dr Rita from Trinity Counseling, and the West Michigan Children's Learning Center providing free ortin gillingham training for children and young adults, and free certification for teachers.

* Door prizes will be announced throughout the evening

Students and seniors over 65 -- $3
Tee shirts, designed by Jennifer, will be for sale
Buy one tee shirt for $20 and receive free admission to the game
