California Healthy Families Program looking to drop 600,000 children

Sept. 16, 2009 - PRLog -- Massive budget cuts in the California state budget may result in up to 600,000 children being disenrolled from the California Healthy Families Program. The California Healthy Families Program has been providing coverage to almost one million low income families. As of October 1st, thousands of children will begin losing their health insurance benefits.

Families with an enrollment anniversary of September will be the first to be notified and these families will receive 30 days notice.

What can these families do?

If their income is low enough to meet certain guidelines, they may qualify for the State’s Medi-Cal program. For those with incomes above the Medi-Cal eligibility level, they still have options.
