Rocky Point Tourism and Visitor’s Bureau

Aug. 22, 2009 - PRLog -- After decades as a member of the business community in Puerto Penasco, Manny Sanchez, Sr. owner of Manny’s Tequila Factory and Manny’s Beach Club decided it was time to take a proactive approach and do his part to attract tourism to Rock Point and unite the business community.  Fed up with the negative press in the U.S. and the decline of tourism in Puerto Penasco, Manny, along with Rosie Glover owner of the ProAlliance Insurance company in Rocky Point, recently founded the Rocky Point Tourism and Visitor’s Bureau, scheduled to open August 3rd, 2009. “The Tourism Bureau is intended to counteract the negative press and help increase tourism.” Manny said of the new venture.  “We’ll function as an assistance office for Rocky Point visitors. We want tourist to have a wonderful time and know that they are appreciated. We want people to know that we are good hosts.”  The Bureau will have it’s own advisory committee made up of representatives of the business community, municipal government and law enforcement.  The committee will meet monthly to review tourism related issues and advise the bureau on effective ways to increase tourism.
The Bureau’s first Director, Rosie Glover, said “the Bureau will also function as a Chamber of Commerce and Better Business Bureau. Member businesses will be able to rely on us to be their liaison with government offices.”  Visitors to Puerto Peñasco will also have a “place to go if they have questions or problems while here.  We intend to be there for them and help in whatever way we can.” elaborated Rosie.
“I am donating the office space and will cover the utilities and Mrs. Glover was willing to donate her time, ideas, and effort.” Manny’s said.
For her part, Glover says she already had notes with her ideas and had hoped to someday be able to help bring more tourism to her adopted hometown. “It’s funny, but I’ve been developing a plan for a couple of years in the hopes that it would come in handy sometime. Manny and I agree that there is much we can do and that now is the time to do it”.
The donated space for the office of the new Rocky Point Tourism & Visitors Assistance Bureau will be located on Blvd. Juarez & 12th Street - the main boulevard - right above the Manny’s Tequila Factory in the center of town. Just look for the bright blue building.  Stop in and see them sometime.
