Podcast Interview: Symantec on Green IT ‘Just Get Started’

Symantec’s recent worldwide survey indicated that green IT had reached “critical mass” with 98 percent of companies confirming they were discussing a green IT strategy.  Interviewed on Symantec and their own green IT strategy, Scroggie provided some insight into his company’s own success with his “top tip”:

“I think the most important thing is to just get started.  We are very fortunate, not only are we obviously strong in the technology space here for green but we have a lot of passion within our organisation, both globally and locally for sustainability.  We have our own green IT committee here and we participate in a whole host of initiatives – everything from redesign and better efficient use of our own office facilities, right through to...a tree planting day.  And a lot of the passion, and excitement and visibility of sustainability becomes a really important thing for the employees themselves to get behind.  So it’s not just a program from the business standpoint, there’s a lot of passion when you start to talk to people throughout the organisation about how everybody can make a difference.”
